November 3, Archie Bleyer was 43 years old when he founded his own record label in December, He called it Cadence, and set up headquarters on 49th Street in Manhattan. An orchestra leader, Bleyer was well known as a regular on Arthur Godfrey’s TV shows, which were Immensely popular in the mid s. Another regular on the Godfrey shows was Julius LaRosa, a young singer, and the immediate reason for Bleyer’s forming Cadence was to give LaRosa a recording vehicle. Bleyer’s orchestra usually backed up LaRosa’s performances on TV, and it was a natural arrangement for the two to go into the recording field together. The first Cadence single release, Cadence , was “Anywhere I Wander” by LaRosa with Blyer’s orchestra, and it shot onto the national top 30 immediately, giving the new label a dose of instant success. The followup effort “My Lady Loves To Dance,” sold moderately well during the spring of , but failed to chart nationally. But in September, the third LaRosa single again tore up the charts, landing at number two.

These are K-Ar data obtained on glauconite, a potassium-bearing clay mineral that forms in some marine sediment. Woodmorappe fails to mention, however, that these data were obtained as part of a controlled experiment to test, on samples of known age, the applicability of the K-Ar method to glauconite and to illite, another clay mineral.
He also neglects to mention that most of the 89 K-Ar ages reported in their study agree very well with the expected ages. Evernden and others 43 found that these clay minerals are extremely susceptible to argon loss when heated even slightly, such as occurs when sedimentary rocks are deeply buried. As a result, glauconite is used for dating only with extreme caution.
There were pictures of him with Gabriel at the recording session on the reverse side of the cover.

Controversy[ edit ] Anthropologist Helen Fisher in What happens in the dating world can reflect larger currents within popular culture. For example, when the book The Rules appeared, it touched off media controversy about how men and women should relate to each other, with different positions taken by New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd and British writer Kira Cochrane of The Guardian.
Sara McCorquodale suggests that women meeting strangers on dates meet initially in busy public places, share details of upcoming dates with friends or family so they know where they’ll be and who they’ll be with, avoid revealing one’s surname or address, and conducting searches on them on the Internet prior to the date. Don’t leave drinks unattended; have an exit plan if things go badly; and ask a friend to call you on your cell phone an hour into the date to ask how it’s going.
Atlantic continues to operate today as part of Time-Warner, one of the few independent record companies from the s and ’50s to survive.
The strong winds drive large waves onshore, eroding beaches and flooding shorelines. Cold high pressure is usually centered over Quebec or northern New England, providing a rich source of cold, dry air into the Mid Atlantic states. Heavy snowfall, sleet, and wind seriously hamper travel, and cause power outages. Forecasting these storms and what weather the region will receive can be difficult. The heaviest snow generally occurs in a band around 50 miles wide. To the east of that heavy snow, it changes to a mixture of ice and then rain.
To the west of the band, snowfall amounts are significantly less. That means that by just moving the center of the storm 50 miles to the east or west will completely change the type and severity of the weather received. Measurable snowfall at least 0. Therefore, it may be possible for a 2-day extreme to be greater than a 3-day extreme e. Please contact the National Climatic Data Center for official data. Official snowfall records date back to:

At the time that Darwin’s On the Origin of Species was published, the earth was “scientifically” determined to be million years old. By , it was found to be 1. In , science firmly established that the earth was 3. Finally in , it was discovered that the earth is “really” 4. In these early studies the order of sedimentary rocks and structures were used to date geologic time periods and events in a relative way. At first, the use of “key” diagnostic fossils was used to compare different areas of the geologic column.
Although there were attempts to make relative age estimates, no direct dating method was available until the twentieth century.
